Effective date: May 27 2026 Website: theinitiative.com Contact: Kai Fridstrøm
The Initiative Magazine respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and what rights you may have under privacy laws including the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR, and applicable privacy laws in the United States.
We aim to collect as little personal information as possible.
1. Who we are
The Initiative Magazine is an online magazine operated by:
The Initiative Magazine Published by Entity as Oslo, Norway Email: initiative@entity.no
For the purposes of GDPR and similar privacy laws, we are the "controller" of the personal information described in this Privacy Policy.
2. What we collect
We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, behavioral advertising tools, or third-party analytics that identify visitors.
We only process limited information when you choose to interact with us.
Newsletter
If you sign up for our newsletter, we process your email address. We store the email address in a properly hashed form where possible.
The purpose is to manage newsletter subscriptions and prevent duplicate or unauthorized sign-ups.
Feedback form
If you submit feedback through our website, we process the information you choose to provide in the form. This may include:
- your hashed email address, if you provide one;
- your message or feedback;
- technical metadata necessary to receive, secure, or process the submission.
Please do not include sensitive personal information in the feedback form unless it is strictly necessary.
Aggregated visitor statistics (Vercel Web Analytics)
We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics service provided by Vercel Inc., to understand how the website is used at an aggregate level. Vercel Web Analytics:
- does not set cookies or persistent identifiers on your device;
- generates a short-lived, daily-rotating visitor hash from your IP address and user-agent, used only to estimate unique visits for that day, and then discards it — it cannot be linked to you across days or across other websites;
- collects page views, the URL visited, the referring URL, approximate country or region, and basic device information such as browser and operating system;
- does not track you across other websites and is not used for advertising or profiling;
- does not receive your newsletter or feedback email address, hashed or otherwise.
Vercel acts as our service provider / processor under a Data Processing Agreement. More information: https://vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy.
3. Hashed emails
We use hashing to reduce the amount of directly readable personal information we store.
However, a hashed email address may still be considered personal data or personal information under GDPR, U.S. privacy laws, and regulatory guidance. We therefore treat hashed emails as protected personal information.
4. What we do not collect
We do not intentionally collect:
- cookies;
- advertising identifiers;
- precise location data;
- payment information;
- account passwords;
- browsing profiles;
- sensitive personal information;
- data for targeted advertising;
- data for sale to third parties.
5. How we use your information
We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:
- to send the newsletter, if you subscribed;
- to manage newsletter subscriptions and unsubscribe requests;
- to receive and review feedback;
- to understand aggregated website usage through Vercel Web Analytics;
- to protect the website from abuse, spam, or security threats;
- to comply with legal obligations;
- to maintain basic operational records.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information for targeted advertising. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles.
6. Legal basis under GDPR
If GDPR applies, we process personal data under the following legal bases:
Consent We rely on your consent when you subscribe to the newsletter or submit optional feedback. You may withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter or contacting us.
Legitimate interests We may rely on legitimate interests to maintain the security of the website, prevent abuse, process basic technical operations, manage our communications, and to understand aggregated, non-identifying website usage through Vercel Web Analytics.
Legal obligation We may process information if required to comply with applicable law.
7. Newsletter unsubscribe
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the newsletter or by contacting us at:
After you unsubscribe, we may retain a hashed record of your email address where necessary to ensure that you are not accidentally re-subscribed or to maintain suppression records.
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Newsletter subscription records are kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion, unless we need to retain a limited hashed record for suppression, security, or legal purposes.
Feedback submissions are kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to review, respond to, or act on the feedback, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
Vercel Web Analytics data is retained by Vercel in accordance with its own retention policy and is held only in aggregated, non-identifying form.
9. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell personal information.
We may share limited information with service providers who help us operate the website, manage the newsletter, receive feedback, host data, provide aggregated analytics (Vercel), or secure our systems.
These service providers may only process information on our behalf and must protect it appropriately.
We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of The Initiative Magazine, our readers, or others.
10. International transfers
The Initiative Magazine may use service providers located in different countries. If personal data is transferred from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland to another country, we will use appropriate safeguards where required by law, such as standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited information we process.
These measures may include hashing, access controls, secure storage, encryption in transit where available, and limiting access to people or providers who need it.
No system is completely secure, but we aim to minimize the amount of personal information we store and protect it responsibly.

The Initiative Magazine is not intended for children under 13 in the United States or under the applicable age of digital consent in other jurisdictions.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
15. Cookies and tracking
We do not use cookies. We do not use tracking pixels. We do not use behavioral advertising tools. We do not use third-party analytics that identify individual visitors.
We use Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless, does not set persistent identifiers, and does not track visitors across other websites. See section 2 for details.
